One of the most trauma inducing experiences is when your phone screen breaks and you have to replace it. It is not funny. Last year my Samsung S3 fell down as I was having dinner and cracked. It was unusable after that as everything is on that screen. I had to to get a replacement which took me back Kshs22,000. Then I had to buy a screen to protect it from future fall. The screen I bought can get unwieldy at the best of times when I want to take photos or pick calls and I do not like it one bit.
When the Samsung S4 was being touted last year there was a mention that the new device would have an unbreakable screen. Turns out that this is not exactly the case although I haven’t yet gotten myself one of those babies. And I would not be very likely to test of the phone was unbreakable should I have it. It would just be too expensive. But from reports online the phone screen is not as impregnable earlier thought.
There is good news though. For those who want to protect the asset there is now insurance which you can buy alongside the device. Accidental damage cover has been incorporated into the existing 24 month Warranty Cover on the S4. The insurance covers both cover screen and liquid damage and is basically two replacements in two years. Meaning one can break the screen once a year and still be in the clear. Yet another reason why I want that Galaxy S4.
