| :: This is why I'm cold
27 April 2007
| I think the rain has it in for me really. A few weeks ago,
I was heading to Ketepa in Industrial area. I had gotten off
the matatu at the Kampala road junction of Enterprise road.
Then I started walking towards Ketepa which is I think like
half a kilometre from the junction. And as I walked closer
to the tea packers, it started raining more and more. By the
time I got to Ketepa past UDV and all those other companies,
I was drenched in a major way. |

And so this past Wednesday, I was caught in the
mother of downpours in this city of Nairobi and I guess that I
have only me to blame. Or the rain gods or something. I was in
Donhoolm and was headed to Buru to meet this client of mine at
Epren. The line for those Double M matatus at the Donnie shopping
centre place was too long so I opted to head to that huge ungainly
roundabout where Jogoo Road and Outering Road meet. By the time
I got there I was quite wet. Leaving diggs without a brolley is
not too bright now that its raining again in the green city in
the sun. I waited for some transport to take me to Mtindwa where
I would cross over to Buru. No matatus. Or buses. So I opted (I'm
so bright...) to stroll toward Mtindwa and keep looking over my
shoulder to see if any means of transport would pick me up. No
such luck. I walked all the way to Mtindwa. And the rain didn't
seem to be letting up at all. The only reason I was cool was because
I was dress in a Leather jacket coz my other clothes would have
done real badly.
At Mtindwa, I had to wait for the public train to
pass (it was now like 7am). And there was hell to pay for using
this route. Mtindwa was just water and mud all the way to Buru.
With hindsight, I should have just strolled up Jogoo road and
taken a Double M up to Epren. It was a cold day after this. Even
as I headed to town later in the day, all I was thinking was how
cold. And they were playing that Omarion song, "I’m
so cold". It seemed to be a song after my own heart. In the
evening, Eve on Capital plays, "this is why I'm cold".
It seems to be remix of "This is why I’m hot"
that song by MIMS. The usual remix suspects on the track... R.Kelly,
Twista. They are singing about how harsh they are at their music
careers thus telling us why are cold.
On a personal not, it just goes to show how cold
a day it had been. What are the odds of hearing a song called
“why In hot” remixed to ”why am I cold?”
So Messrs Twista and R.Kelly, just why am I cold? Being rained
on like a kuku for more than an hour, wading through cold water...
now that is why I'm cold!
p.s. Yep got to my meeting on time. Cold, drenching
wet but on time. I have got to get me a car already!
