4. PUBLIC SECTOR

:: No entry was submitted in this category and therefore no award was given

5. NOT-FOR-PROFIT

Only one entry was submitted and adjudicated in this category but the judges were particularly impressed by the attention to detail and quality of the presentation. They thus awarded the winning accolade to:

:: Bloodlink Foundation for their entry – “Blood Donation Mobilization” campaign

6. IN-HOUSE PR DEPARTMENT

Here too only one entry was received but considering the high scores given on the various ratings, the judges bestowed this award to:

:: KenGen for the set-up of their in-house PR Department

7. YOUNG COMMUNICATOR

As stated above, the judges were very impressed with the quality of presentations by our young and up-coming PR professionals.

2nd Position: Michelle Anekeya from the University of Nairobi for her presentation: “Pata Fahamu PR”
1st Position: Amanda Gicharu from USIU for her presentation: “Bridging the Gap: PR Demystified”

8. YOUNG PR PRACTITIONER

One entry was submitted in this category but as earlier stated, that was the one that the judges determined the contestant did not conform to the three (3) year ceiling for professional experience but rather was far advanced in professional experience and practice.

9. PR PRACTITIONER

No entry was submitted in this category and therefore no award was given

10. PR CONSULTANCY

Two entries were received and adjudicated in this category and the judges felt that perhaps better marketing could have elicited better competition. Nonetheless it was a pretty tight race between the two agencies that participated

2nd Position: Tell-Em Public Relations
1st Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications

11. PRIVATE SECTOR PR CAMPAIGNS

This category had several specialized fields for competition in the PR profession including Financial Relations; Media Relations; Corporate Relations; Consumer Relations; Internal Relations; Public Affairs; Corporate Social Responsibility and Crisis Management.
Sixteen (16) entries were submitted and adjudicated in this category.

4th Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications for their entry “Sportsman of the Year” campaign for Safaricom
3rd Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications for their entry "Gusii Road Race” campaign for Safaricom
2nd Position: Oglivy and Mather Public Relations for their “KenGen Initial Public Offering (IPO)” campaign for Kenya Electricity Generating Company
1st Position: Apex Communications for their “Bill Bila Balaa” campaign for the Nairobi Water Company.
Incidentally this campaign was one of the winning entries as judged by the International Public Relations Association at their recent ceremony in London. The judges here however would like to assure you that the IPRA verdict did not have any influence whatsoever on their decision.
