– this is the entry that the judges transferred from another
category as inappropriately submitted by their in-house team
4. PUBLIC SECTOR
:: No entry was submitted in this category
and therefore no award was given
5. NOT-FOR-PROFIT
Only one entry was submitted and adjudicated in this category
but the judges were particularly impressed by the attention to
detail and quality of the presentation. They thus awarded the
winning accolade to:
:: Bloodlink Foundation for their entry –
“Blood Donation Mobilization” campaign
6. IN-HOUSE PR DEPARTMENT
Here too only one entry was received but considering the high
scores given on the various ratings, the judges bestowed this
award to:
:: KenGen for the set-up of their in-house PR
Department
7. YOUNG COMMUNICATOR
As stated above, the judges were very impressed with the quality
of presentations by our young and up-coming PR professionals.
2nd Position: Michelle Anekeya from the University
of Nairobi for her presentation: “Pata Fahamu PR”
1st Position: Amanda Gicharu
from USIU for her presentation:
“Bridging the Gap: PR Demystified”
8. YOUNG PR PRACTITIONER
One entry was submitted in this category but as earlier stated,
that was the one that the judges determined the contestant did
not conform to the three (3) year ceiling for professional experience
but rather was far advanced in professional experience and practice.
9. PR PRACTITIONER
No entry was submitted in this category and therefore no award
was given
10. PR CONSULTANCY
Two entries were received and adjudicated in this category and
the judges felt that perhaps better marketing could have elicited
better competition. Nonetheless it was a pretty tight race between
the two agencies that participated

1st Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications
11. PRIVATE SECTOR PR CAMPAIGNS
This category had several specialized fields for competition
in the PR profession including Financial Relations; Media Relations;
Corporate Relations; Consumer Relations; Internal Relations; Public
Affairs; Corporate Social Responsibility and Crisis Management.
Sixteen (16) entries were submitted and adjudicated in this category.
4th Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications
for their entry “Sportsman of the Year” campaign
for Safaricom
3rd Position: Gina Din Corporate Communications
for their entry "Gusii Road Race” campaign
for Safaricom
2nd Position: Oglivy and Mather Public Relations
for their “KenGen Initial Public Offering (IPO)”
campaign for Kenya Electricity Generating Company
1st Position: Apex Communications for their “Bill
Bila Balaa” campaign for the Nairobi Water Company.
Incidentally this campaign was one of the winning entries as judged
by the International Public Relations Association at their recent
ceremony in London. The judges here however would like to assure
you that the IPRA verdict did not have any influence whatsoever
on their decision.
