:: How Oakland Media ruined Christmas
24 January 2006

I was so pleased with myself. My article had passed the Oakland Media editorial team and was published. I was promised payment for my hard work and I was informed that I would be getting paid in 60 days. I thought that was a bit weird but hey I was in cloud nine after all. Someone had deemed my writing was good enough to publish in their production. I figured that it being Oakland media, I was on the way. That was in October.

In December, I had planned myself perfectly (yes its direct translation). I knew that part of the money I would be doing my drunken binge would be from my Oakland Media connection. However, the money was not forthcoming. I was understandably upset. However, what really upset me was not that I would be getting my money. They informed me that I was just one of many contributors and I may have to wait like all the rest. The person I was dealing made me feel like an idiot for asking for my money. Wow.

And I have since spoken to other contributors and it seems that the last person who gets paid by Oakland Media is the person that actually writes the stuff we read. Wow. As I write this I have still not been remunerated. I'm not holding my breath.

A word of warning to potential contributors, Oakland media doesn't pay.

I have since been sorted the cash I was supposed to be paid by Oakland media - 20 Feb 2007
