:: David Kinyua's investment options
29 June, 2006
It's really hard to forget the first conference that I ever went for. The event was called the Local Committee Training and Motivation Seminar (LCTMS) and was held in Namanga. Apart from being the most illustrious event that I had attended at the time, I remember that this was a very cool event.
The chair for this event was a dude called David Kinyua who once we checked in asked us to break into groups and give ourselves names. The group we were in decided to go with Nanjanakumbi - there was a Ugandan in the group and she said it was a cool place. Unfortunately, the chair could not pronounce the name and shortened it to the Ninjas. I found that quite funny.
After the event, I met this David Kinyua off and on as the years went by. One of his first job stations was Citibank. Citibank was recruiting so many AIESECers in those days that it really made me question their hiring policies. It was like they would come to AIESEC National executive board ( NEB ) meetings to choose their management trainees. Either that or the interviews had an AIESEC related question. I could just imagine the questionnaire with the question, "How many countries is AIESEC situated in?"
As I was landing in London for my Canada Life traineeship, the man was just coming back from Citibank in London . Since then, he was head hunted up by Stanbic Bank in Nairobi . The man has been moving up the corporate ladder real fast and is now executive director of Stanbic Investments. So if you want to know anything about the investing your cash, try and talk to Stanbic. He is in charge of that arm of the business and you know that David Kinyua can't steer you wrong.
