If you have been using Waiyaki Way recently you will have noticed a new pink building with a different design than we are used to. Off course if you are are hospitality insider you are very likely to know that this is the latest hotel in town; the Villa Rosa Kempinski.
The hotel is managed by Kempinski which we all know to be one of the biggest brands in world travel. It was set to be opened on 4th March this year in an audacious move to show the confidence of the hotel chain in Kenya even as the elections kicked off but was postponed.
The opening date has since been shrouded in mystery as the hotel underwent some remodelling to ensure that it was up to scratch where the whole “high end hotel” was concerned.
On Monday the hotel showed even more possibility that it will be welcoming guest soon as its newstaff were given orientation about the place. They were all given their lockers (how many staff in Kenyan hotels can boast this) and the tour of the place before the official ceremony. No medicine men or seers were seen at this part of proceedings (sadly) which included cake, baloons in the air which staff popped in joy like they were still in primary school and a band performing some music. Here are scenes from Kempinski’s big day.
