Diana Nekoye first came to the attention of the Kenyan nation in 2010 when she was one of the finalists to the MNET Face of Africa competition. She didn’t win but she was acknowledged to be one of the better competitors.
The next time she made another splash was when her then boyfriend photographer James Grieves-Cook met his death in a tale that was splashed all over the place including in the Daily mail.
Well the enterprising former model has more to offer than this past stories. The Kenyatta University trained Diana has been Africa producer for Australian Broadcasting Corporation for the last few months.
More interesting for me is that she hasn’t left her fashion background alone as she runs the Simbaress Fashion house priding itself on East African Heritage. It was founded when Diana was still a hot property in 2010 and was to spin off to being a fashion house making apparel for women then to a full-fledged apparel business. Not bad at all.
The latest incarnation of the company sees some well known personalities like reality TV hopefuls Alex Konstantaras and Lizz Njagah acting as models for her outfits. Now thats some pulling power. The clothes include tops, bottoms (don’t ask), dresses and accessories.
If you are in the mood for some righteous kitenge designs of all kinds you want to go to the official Simbaress Fashions website.
