Agricultural firm Sasini Tea and Coffee has extended the Savanna Coffee shops to the heart of the city centre bringing a unique blend of Kenyan art, cuisine and spirit.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Sasini Tea and Coffee director Sameer Merali said the partnership is part of a Kshs 500 million expansion project in value addition for Sasini to cushion the company from unmitigated losses in the agricultural sector.

Sameer says the company will continue scouting for opportunities to set up more coffee shops at convenient locations in Kenya and other world capitals with plans underway to set up a similar outfit in Palm Island Dubai and in London.

He said the concept is unique because conventional coffee shop is not just the crowded meeting point for friends to catch on the latest gossip, but the Savanna coffee lounge has taken refreshment a step further with its uniquely Kenyan design and a touch of international feel.

“This is an initiative Sasini tea and coffee of taking value addition of Kenyan tea and coffee to the next level by creating the first international coffee shop concept out of Kenya to the rest of the world. The inspiration is stemmed out of Kenya’s unique wildlife, art and culture creating a Kenyan brand with international acclaim” he said.

Born out of the increasing international trends of coffee shops, the Savanna coffee lounge is betting big on the changing trends and lifestyles of Kenyans and international visitors alike who require space and a touch of style that suits their strained lifestyles.

“We are in a constantly changing environment where more people are meeting for business or leisure at common places without having to get going for the traditional formal setting either for business or leisure” said Sameer .

“We know that creating a positive image for Kenya will not happen overnight.  Nor will it happen without careful management and one of the key goals of the Savanna Coffee lounge is to inspire a Kenyan concept for the global market” he adds.

To give it a touch and feel of the international market, Sasini has teamed up with an internationally acclaimed team from Dubai, which is credited for launching over 100 model franchise coffee shops in both Dubai and India which is working hand in hand with a local team to create the sumptuous menus on offer.

“Kenya is a unique Country in the world. We have a diversity of climates that you cannot find in any country in the world. We have very rich beaches, very beautiful we have 59 National parks and reserves, the only country in the world with that kind of diversity, we have access to the second largest fresh water lake in the world. This is a unique selling point which we shall proudly take to the entire world”  he said

He says Kenya and Kenyan products and workforce are already popular across the globe but there has been little effort by Kenyans to own this platform, leaving it to multinationals to take credit at the expense of Kenya. “This concept will change what the typical stereotype about Africa and Kenya completely” he adds.

We are creating a winning concept and I am sure, that eventually, Savanna coffee lounges with have franchise holders across the globe, built on this unique approach and Kenyan style” he added.
