Patricia (centre) receives her award

Ahhh... So the PRSK has come to their senses. As their 35 year celebrations continued they decided to award some of their members’ awards for great service to the profession. They call them the Golden Awards. And the awardees are the who's who of PR in Kenya. Lawrence Gakuru of Apex Communication, Gina Din Kariuki of Gina Din Corporate Communications and the like.

One name that had to be on the honour roll was Patricia Mbatia-Macharia. This lady has almost single handed raised the profile of MNET in Kenya. It’s a big deal. MNET is a South Africa outfit. And as Castle lager learned, you don't come to my house and try and be funny. Mbatia-Macharia's work has taken the edge of that rivalry between our two countries as we do not feel threatened watching English Premiership footie on Telly or participating. Its a great job from a great PR practitioner.

Well done Patricia.
